Ainsley’s Angels at 7th Annual “Big MAC” Resource Fair
MOn February 18, 2015, the Department of Education, Community Children’s Council, and Developmental Disabilities Committee of Maui hosted the “7th Annual Big MAC – Moving Across Community’s Road Map to Independence!” The Big MAC is designed to assist students with disabilities in their transition from high school to the community. Students were accompanied by their families to the event at Maui High School and met with the DOE Resource Teachers to map out their Road Maps to Independence. Breakout sessions were offered to students and their families, which covered topics such as Benefits Planning, Post School Transition Planning, and Advocacy.
McKeon Sheldon Mehling partner, Keri Mehling, attended the Resource Fair, a concurrent part of the Big MAC event, as a volunteer for Ainsley’s Angels. Ainsley’s Angels is a charitable organization that pairs Angel volunteer athletes with persons with disabilities. The Angels have the honor of pushing and pulling their Captains through 5km, 10km and half-marathon events.
