MSM Advises MAPA in Purchase of Main Street Promenade
On December 6, 2016, the Maui Academy of Performing Arts (MAPA) realized its long-held dream of expanding its education and arts facilities in Wailuku when it closed a $5.75 million purchase of the Main Street Promenade complex. The Main Street Promenade offers 35,622 square foot of space for MAPA to continue its mission of integrating arts into the life of Maui’s community. The complex will eventually house a theatre, rehearsal studio, classrooms, production spaces for costume and scene shops, and administrative offices.
MSM Managing Member William McKeon, who advised MAPA in the purchase of the complex on a pro bono basis, commented: “It was a long, complicated transaction that required many people on both sides working collaboratively to make it happen. It was rewarding to help an outstanding nonprofit organization like MAPA that fosters imagination, creativity, collaboration and a passion for excellence in our youth and community. Our firm is committed to giving back to our community, and we were glad to be part of the team that helped MAPA expand its campus and also help with the revitalization of Wailuku Town.”
MAPA, a non profit organization, has been a part of Maui’s arts community for over 42 years. With programs ranging from ballet and dance to theatre, MAPA serves approximately 25,000 people annually through its performing arts programs, and enriches the lives of many more through its annual production of The Nutcracker.
